my willpower.

when i woke up feeling too chubs for my clothes, when my train went express right before my stop, when one of our front desk computers was unusable (due to a porn virus, i kid you not), when i was dragging at the gym, when i made kale and potato soup (from scratch!) instead of just snacking on cookies all night—all day i’ve felt like crawling back under the covers, and i haven’t given up or given in. i’m just thankful that i’ve gotten to a place in my life where i know how to kick the mean reds when they do show up.

this song has been playing in my head for days. i remember going to hear them play in a record store in bloomington, sitting on the floor. the next day, our friend matthew, whom we all called “deuce” (a nicer iteration on his original nickname “two-face”), emailed it to me so that i could listen to it on repeat. this just made me think of all these stories i want to write down. it’s making me nostalgic.
