GPOYW our first thanksgiving

stephen took me down to sturgis, kentucky for our first thanksgiving together five years ago. i met ma dixie, his great-grandma, and this weekend we will be celebrating her 100th birthday. when i met her, i remember wondering if she would live to 100, and i remember wondering if i would get to help her celebrate. and here we are.

vacaaaaaaaation! we fly out tomorrow, and i can’t wait! i haven’t been back to indiana in over two years (i haven’t left this city for another city in over a year and a half.) plus i think we’re going to bloomington tomorrow once we get in and you know what that means: mother bear’s pizza. tomorrow i will be oh so thankful for mother bear’s pizza.

i made the most delicious brussels sprouts tonight. (what is in them that i’ve been craving them? are they a good source of some vitamin that i don’t get enough of?) my mom and sister and i do this thing where my mom emails us a recipe, and then we all make and send around our opinions. so far it has led to some really delicious things, and i bought the ingredients for this week’s recipe, brussels sprouts with mustard butter, which called for 1lb of brussels. i was feeling too lazy to make the mustard butter, so instead i just boiled the sprouts and tossed them with a little bit of olive oil, a little bit of grey poupon and a little bit of fresh parsley. i could’ve eaten the whole pot. (and considering we’re leaving town on wednesday, i’ll probably need to.) anyways, delicious. i love vegetables now in a way that i never could’ve anticipated.
